struggling with this one, just about to order a new kombi and was giving serious thought to this option after reading all the opinions and difficulty retrofitting. But for £1700 is it really worth it? (Plan on keeping van for 15 years)
Just realised....it's £10 a month for 15 years....
Should I?

It'll cost you more to retrofit it. It is worth every penny. £10 a month, is that all, equivalent to a couple of shandy's, but will help you see a damn sight better.

if you do night driving, it'll be worth it,

you will end up spending more to retro fit

i have H4's and i can't believe its legal to sell these. they are that bad

I started on H4s driven a couple with H7s and am now on LEDs you know what I'm going to say, the LEDs are outstanding compared to the others but the question is are they worth it ?
They are big bucks so unless you drive regularly in the dark away from street lights then it's questionable but now I have had them I wouldn't be without them

It's a YES from me!

Had my T6 for 4 months and 8000 miles later wouldn't be without them.

I do a lot of driving at night on long journeys however. The short UK winter nights are also almost upon us! And finally they adjust for driving abroad so no more silly stickers on headlights.

I live out in the sticks, so pitch black unlit lanes, with all sorts of wild life ready to jump in the road and attack.
Was a no-brainer for me. Instant daylight to drive in.
Just annoying for the price they didn't go the whole hog and make the indicators (front and rear) and reversing light LED too.

Having had upgraded "Bi-Zenon" on my car for 7 years, and even today still being impressed when driving at night, I knew I wanted "LED" on the Vel. I think they were £1440 last year less 10-12% discount. The LEDs on offer are 2 generations behind say the new RangeRover Velar, and on lots of cars LED's are coming as part of the deal or a £700ish upgrade. So having thought it through, yep ticked the box, and would do the same again tomorrow, particularly as the standard headlights don't seem too good.

Even with the upgraded 150% H4's bulbs the lights are shockingly bad!! Put the main beam on and you might as well just be driving with sidelights on. They are the worst headlights I've ever had on a vehicle. I'm dreading winter when I'll be driving to and from work in the dark everyday! Definitely looking for replacements so I wouldn't even consider not upgrading if I was you!

H7s aren't too bad, never worried about lights on our last Cali, do very little night driving, find the LED DRL look pretty naff.
It's a "bigger" upgrade from H4s (you get LED rears too; we already had them) and a hateful bit of marketing from VW.
Not playing their little game.

Have you retrofitted them Pauly? Or did you get a new T6?

My van started on H4s and i have now retro fitted LED headlights
The H7s i referenced were a couple of courtesy vans from dealers

I drive a fair bit at night on country roads in the peak district on the H4s and find them ok. I'd upgrade, sure. But for 1700? Hmmm, dunno.
