Tick over with a mind of its own

Would value people’s opinions - 69 plate shuttle, manual. It has always ticked over at an indicated 800rpm. Recently it has, on occasions and not all the time, started ticking over at 950 / 1000 rpm mid journey, for about 20 minutes before returning back to 800rpm. Did it today - 2 hour journey - about an hour in 1000rpm at traffic lights. Drove another 15 mins before being caught at more lights - still ticking over at 1000rpm. 5 mins later and the next red light - back to 800rpm and stayed like that for the rest of the journey. Any ideas? Vehicle is under warranty but would feel better equipped dealing with them if any of you guys think you know otherwise I’ll likely get the main dealer ‘no fault found’ treatment. Cheers, Mike

1000rpm is an indication of engine doing a REGEN..

You dint get a light when doing a regen....

Unless you keep interupting it before it completes.

Eventually you will get the yellow light.

It takes 20-40mins to complete a regen.

Normally at 1/3 and 2/3 tank levels....

Like others have said this is almost certainly a regen in progress. I have proved it on mine by running the VAG DPF app to log what is going on. It is entirely normal and will happen 2 or maybe 3 times per tank of fuel, it is just part of how the DPF works.
