T6 Remap, Lowered And Insurance

New to the site and I couldn't find a thread relating to this, so here goes....

Basically I am looking for recommendations on where to go for insurance.

I will be picking up my new T6 next week....
EURO 6 T6 T30 2.0TDI EURO6 150PS DSG KOMBI SWB
It has the following mods and I'd like it insured correctly, without paying twice the regular premium.

• Remap 150ps to 190ps
• Leather Seats
• 20" Alloy Wheel
• Lowering Springs

Any pointers and advise would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots of options for getting it properly insured, here's a few:

A-Plan 01635 879910
Brentacre 01792 650933
Adrian Flux 0800 369 8590
Carol Nash 0800 093 2950 Max cover is £40k for ungaraged vehicle
Greenlight 01277 650866 Max cover is £30k

Many of these are brokers so will find you options with insurance companies.

If your planning Mods for your van, regardless of small changes or full conversion.
Consider Brentacre (as above) - I found them too be the simplest and cheapest, ONCE mods we're added.

If you know of mods that you will / may do, ask the insurance company to give you a quotation to include that. Some companies do not insure vans that have certain mods, So worth checking rather than paying, modding, insuring and then finding out that that particular mod is not covered, resulting in the hassle of policy cancellation / higher premiums.

Online searches only cover racking etc.. you have to phone them and discuss in detail. Keep a log of calls and discussions for your reference if required at a later date.

Just gone with Brentacre as my renewal is due. They were half the price of everyone else for the same cover,excellent service so far.

• Compare The Meerkat - £535 (this is for a standard van, NO modifications)
• A Plan - £855 (price includes modifications - Remap 150ps to 190ps - 20" Alloy Wheel - Lowering Springs)
• Brentcare - £490 (price includes modifications - Remap 150ps to 190ps - 20" Alloy Wheel - Lowering Springs)

Brentcare are the winners!
I will report back if there are any issues when I book the policy, but as yet the service was very prompt, good quality and the cheapest!

Yes, it is my only van, based on 12k miles per year and I have full no claims.

I went with performance direct
£690 for t6 with mods
Plus a hefty £700 in total excess!
Will try brentacre next time

Little update, having just insured the van.
The underwriting insurer is Marker Study, this is the same company mentioned by A Plan and Brentcare, however Brentcare offered the same cover £365 less than A Plan.
The excess on the policy is £350.
This time tomorrow I should be driving the new wagon home

My underwriter is Marker Study, through A-plan for a modified van policy. And they were cheapest, I think it was around £400.

Just had my renewal from HIC, £245 but valuation was still at £33k for original van. I asked them to up it to £55k to cover conversion and the premium went to £950!!!

Going with Dirctline £289 including mods.

Safeguard suggested by my convertor are specialist motorhome provider and were decent at £399

I'm with A plan.........funny thing happened at renewal time......my insurance almost doubled compared to my T5........when I challenged them, strangely enough, they reduced new premium by about a third! I don't like that kind of thing.......I'll be shopping around come November!
