T6 rear lights with double reverse

Hi, I have a 2018 t6 with the standard rear lights with only one reverse light ( which is next to useless anyway). I need to upgrade in some way in order to see better when reversing, especially driver side. Anyone fitted anything what is available lately. I don’t mind if it’s halogen or led, just need something better. Cheers.

If you have a tailgate you can fit OEM T6 or T6.1 LED rear lights. Both came with twin reverse lights. The T6 ones have tungsten bulbs, but these can be swapped for LED bulbs with great effect.

If you have Barn doors, there are aftermarket 6.1 LED lookalikes available.

Use the search function and you should find all your answers.

The only way I know of to get twin reverse lights on the T6 is by buying the Travelin Lite versions which have a loom to fit across between the lights,
T6 Tailgate LED rear lights with dynamic indicator (T6.1 style) 2015 - 2019
but they seem to be out of stock at the moment. The original T6 wiring only has one side active, so even if you fit lights with the reverse both sides only one will work unless you have a joining loom.
Cheers, I’ve already had a look at Travlin Lite and yes, they are out of stock for the red ones but have the black version available on sale at £250. Not sure about the look of the black ones so might wait for the red ones to come in stock. Mines a tailgate in reflex if anyone else has the black ones to show how they look/ perform.

Unfortunately only gave one reverse light, I’m looking to get both sides with reverse

Your van is only wired for one reverse light. Whichever lights you fit, you'll need to run a cable to power the reverse light on the nearside.

Post #5 has the lights you were looking at, but were out of stock at Travlin Lite, Post #6 appear to be the very same lights for sale by a fella on this forum.

Unfortunately the THQ ones do not work on both sides, I know this as I bought them and then called THQ re getting both sides working. Not possible they said.

The Veedub ones don't state if they are both or single, in one photo it looks like a cross connect loom, but maybe a call to confirm would be in order.

These are the THQ led black lights with fog and reverse on both sides. The only way to get both sides working as your van has halogen, is, as said above, to wire across from the offside to near side light. If you fit the led lights you’ll also need to replace the plugs as they are a different fitment.

How did you do that then? As THQ told me their units are fully sealed and you couldn't get both working. I'd like to know so that I could get mine working both sides.

I’m assuming you’ve spoken to them about the halogen units. I replaced them with the led units, upgraded the wiring to suit.

So, I have the LED THQ units to replace the original halogen units. What wiring do I need to upgrade? or did you have original oem led fitted.

I had halogen. To fit the led units the connector plugs need changing as they are different. To get the near side lights to work requires a hard wired link from rev/fog on the offside connector running across the van to the nearside connector. I got the plugs with loom from @Pauly but I don’t know if he still does this as it was a few years ago.

Thanks, yes, that’s why I was looking at the ones from Travlin Lite as they come with a connecting loom from one side to the other and seems a simple install.
The ones in #6 are from THQ, not the ones I was looking at, and at another 45 quid for new with warranty, I’d wait for new stock anyway.

Try a Twenty20 led reversing bulb before you go spending big bucks on new lights.

Cheers but really need the drivers side reverse light as where I reverse into my drive I need to see a low wall drivers side which is where I park close to. Thank god for park pilot at the moment as I can see nothing driver side. Think I’ll be buying from Travlin Lite when the red ones come back in stock.
Then it’ll be on to address those candle headlights, but that’s a whole more complicated with legalities etc.

In the mean time, have you tried using your hazard lights?
