our converted T6 140 T30 DSG ,DTUK tuning box and pedalbox, lowered 50mm on HR heavy springs, 17 vw alloys, dash mods, genuine Vw heated seats,
Only thins to sort are a flat bottom steering wheel, sat nav (still can't decide which unit to go for) thinking about the kenwood only because I'm trying to keep the stock look?.
Need heated seats wired up? (Need to find auto electrics local to me in Whitley bay)
Upgrade headlights and DRLs(still looking for advice as I won't them bright?). Any advice or recommendations will be very appropriate.

Looks very smart and well co-ordinated. Regarding the head unit, I had considered the VW style Kenwood unit to keep the factory look but I'm yet to find anyone who recommends it (apart from VW and Kenwood of course) . You probably know that the Pioneer AVIC F88 DAB is highly thought of but you lose some of the MFD features. Alpine have just released a new unit called the X802D-U which retains everything that's on the Discover Media unit including full MFD. Out of interest, http://www.satnavsystems.com specialise in the after fit of the VW Discovery Media unit, including apple car play/app connect; they do a lot of work for VW main dealerships. Only downside is I think it costs about £1600 including full installation to factory standard.

Thanks for that info I will have s look at the alpine unit.

It looks good, I found the same as you the reports on the kenwood were disappointing.
I assume you can get it fitted flush so looks properly fitted in.
Yes, it can be fitted perfectly just like the X801 D-U which it supersedes with a better interface. The man to speak to is Jason at www.absolut5.co.uk he will advise accordingly. I spoke to him earlier this week; the unit has only just been released. Apparently Alpine won't have the looms for the T6 until late October but I'm prepared to wait.

I'm in no hurry so will drop him a line. How much am I looking at fully fitted?.

Ah well, this is where your decision becomes harder! Although I haven't yet got a final price for supply and fit of the new Alpine unit because the compatible loom is not yet available, I think it will end up being only about £150 cheaper than the installation of the VW Discover Media Unit, which satnav systems will come to your home or work to fit at no extra cost. If your heart is set on the VW 'look' you may be prepared to pay the difference. However, I am told by many experts that the Alpine unit is far better than the VW Discover Media unit. That having been said, most people who have the VW unit are very happy with it and like the look of it. After a lot of consideration I am planning on getting the Alpine unit, I like the 8" screen and overall quality and interface. Out of interest, the £1,099 price tag of the Alpine unit from Car Audio Direct is very good because I believe the list price is £1,399. Hope all this isn't too confusing.

It all makes perfect sense. I think I would go more towards the alpin as a lot of people say the media nav isn't worth the retro fit cost. Will you re post after you have had yours fitted and your opinion on it. Thanks for your help and info its very helpful

Will do.

I'm interested in this too, in the past I've found that Alpine tends to have the edge over Pioneer in sound quality but can be frustratingly laggy to operate. I had been holding out for the replacement for the F88 DAB which I've heard a vague report will be announced in Nov, they've apparently redesigned to put all the audio processing on one side, separated from the power handling bits on the other side to make he sound quality even better. If this Alpine has solved the slow UI I might go for it but I'd like someone else to be the guinea pig :D
