Don’t you just love finding bodged wiring on your own van. Rear led light 6.1 upgrade resistor attempted install.
People only because it works doesn’t mean it’s correct or safe.
I only found this because of an intermittent fast flashing indicator meaning resistor was losing connection.!
All repaired by myself.! Properly.
I’d shame the specialist but I still use them for parts!

Pretty sure that resistor would have stuck on the back of the light unit with HD Velcro rather than nailing it to the body.
I guess it‘s a case of who GAF when it’s not your own van

I thought the opposite actually then body works as heatsink. It would be interesting to see the instructions

While the wiring might leave a lot to be desired, I would never use a resistor pack like that after trying one for some LED foglights, couldn't belive how hot it got - I wouldn't want it anywhere near plastic parts. In my opinion it'd be best to remove the resistor, fix the wiring properly and get the bulb monitoring turned off.

Resistors are required to fix the fast flash on the dash when upgrading to 6.1 led lights

What Paul said. They are required I’m afraid.

It has to be mounted to the body. It would melt anything it touches it gets that hot.
