T6.1 Cigarette Lighter fuse

Both the cigarette lighter on the centre console and the one on the top of the dash have stopped working on my 2020 T6.1 (We use it for an electric tyre pump which works fine in another car). I have looked at previous posts and fuse diagrams but can not find a failed fuse. The ones in the compartment to the right of the steering wheel that I pulled out all worked. I have looked under the passenger seat but can only see wires and nothing that looks like a fuse. I asked at our local VW garage and they would charge a £170 diagnostic fee to identify the problem. Thank you - that is a great resource. I found the fuses for my 2020 T6.1 too. But still could not find the cigarette lighter fuse.
 
Is your van a conversion?

The reason I ask is the picture you posted of the wiring looks like the coupling connectors between the front and rear looms - normally those would be in frames under the seat with the fuse carriers as well.

A common trick on conversions is to try and tuck those connectors and also the fuse blocks under the flooring to give more space in the seat bases - there is usually enough space in the wiring channel dips in the floor to do it.

So you might be looking for a fuse under the flooring.

If you're wondering why the wiring would even come back to that point the answer is in vans with a factory fit second battery it will be under the seat and those sockets are then fed from that battery, not the starter.

If its been deconstructed then what you are looking for is this module, the give away might be to look for that substantial red cable that feeds it

I always connect devices with heavy draw direct to the battery and earth either on the engine lift ring or bonnet slam. Can the fuse be uprated or is the wiring not up to that? Would it be better to rewire and fit a separate cig lighter that was up rated or perhaps use a different coupling altogether? I am sure that vehicles in the past had cig lighters with higher ratings!
 
Regardless of the fuse the physical plug can't sustain over 8A (100w) without overheating - hence the limits on most portable power packs using the format of input.

The culprit of frequently blown dash socket fuses is often the plug, especially the all in one USB converters, as they can have a sloppy fit and when the cable is pulled some can move around and bridge the centre contact to the side contacts in the socket.

Was such a pain in the old XC70 I ended up replacing the fuses with auto reset breakers (mostly because you could only get to the fuses by taking panelling off)

My 2022 T6.1 is the same as that under the passenger double seat.
