Hi, I have just bought a '65 van and am trying to work out what is actually is before I convert to a camper. I have spent a long time looking but am confused. I have a new vehicle prep sheet (09/15) - T32 Kombi EU5 140

From the VIN - 7HZG which is T5? however I think it does have the updated dash.

Engine is CA8...

Primarily I am asking as want to know how smart the electics are. Does it have a smart alternator or can I use a split charge relay .... How can I find out for sure?

Thanks

It will have the smart alternator I’m sure. My 2014 was borderline date wise but was old school so I could split charge

Start stop will normally have a smart alternator.... See if it has a sensor on the battery neg post. (Dc-dc preferably)

Non stop start have no sensor and normally have a standard alternator. (Split charge ok)

....

Though regardless of what you have a dc-dc charger is always the best option for a leisure battery.....it will ensure the leisure battery is properly fully charged.
