Because the 275/40 is too big(but it will work) see the THQ video. They are a chosen size because they are an ex RR size so lots of supply and very cheap.
But from the math it sits more stretched on the rim than the 245 on 8.5J

It's not about the money its more the availability.
I could go with CossClimate3 in 245 and 265

I'll watch the video later - thanks a lot.

Guru’s I need help with sizes! T32 4 mo. Solows with machined top mounts, rears adjusters as low as they go currently on 255/35/20 on my et42 8.5J rims

Looking to go to

8.5j et35 front with the 255/35/20
10j et35 rear but unsure on the tyre size…. Help please!

Getting a match on rear tyre diameter with a 10j wheel when you are already on a 255/35 on the front is going to be tricky.

Hopefully some one can give me a steer on what my options are, My T6 has had the CRS Performance suspension fitted, lowered 75mm I think and fitted with 20" Supermetal Cell. Drives beautifully looks amazing.

The issue is I'm not using the van for what I thought I would be, I'm driving it on the odd farm track to get shooting and once got bogged down.
It tows my WW2 jeep to events and nearly got stuck after a severe downpour that flooded the fields, how it drove out towing 1500kg still feels like a miracle.

Anyway, I have some wheel options for when I'm doing this kind of stuff, I have the original T32 17" steels, and a set of 16" steels that fit as I seem to have smaller calipers on this Shuttle.

I'm prepared to raise the van back up to make the tyres fit, as the tow bar is on the low side anyway.

What would be a decent solution to this conundrum, I'm happy to swap wheels when I'm doing this stuff which is about ten times a year.

Thanks.

You could just try 17's on a more AT sylee tyre and see if it fits. Falken Wild-thing's here, I think they are 235/65's and even though they are a winter tyre I love the feel and ride of the van now. Its a Caravelle on triple grey springs on the back and Koni's and std new OEM on the front at the moment. I painted the wheels myself :-)

As @FerrisBFW just stated it sounds more like a suitable tyre option is what you need like any 80/20 AT type either on 16 or 17” rim

Yeah that looks perfect, what's the MPG and ride like on those Falkens - I have exactly those wheels spare so I could replicate that perfectly.

Michelin Latitude Cross is what I use 235/55/17 on a similarly lowered van. Although coilovers from CRS so the hitch height is correct as the attitude can be adjusted

This is on a downhill slope hence looking under inflated

How are they on muddy fields, as that's the main issue I'm facing, its not going off road big time, but been caught out twice now in muddy farmers yards or on grass that was churned up after a serious downpour.

They’ve always been ok on grassy/sloppy camping fields, not been in a lot of mud TBH but mines a 4motion van as well so it pushes from the rear axle when needed.

They are pretty good in snow/ice etc as they are rated for this also. I’m sure there are cheaper options with similar abilities out there now.

This is the info on them. There are loads of reviews of them on this product page. My local tyre place who supply farm/agri types recommended them as they ‘never get complaints about them’ other than cost
