Hi guys
New to the forum so first and foremost hello.
Hoping some one could shed some light.

Got 19 plate caravelle 204 DSG. Had for about 4 months.

I Was driving yesterday and notice the engine sounded different and noticeably when going down hill and engine braking it was really whining and felt like I could feel the whining through the steering wheel. Obviously thought at first the worst and that oil pump had gone or something. But on further inspection it make horrible now when stationary and you turn the steering wheel. So I'm thinking power steering pump or some sort of belt? Not ever having any experience with anything like that I'm kind stumped. Going to call a garage tomorrow but thought I'd take some advice from the wider community first.

Oh I should mention that I have tried driving with out Mrs T in the van and can confirm it makes no difference.

I have taken video but too large to upload.

Does sound like the power steering pump, but have you checked the reservoir ? Green cap, it should be full.

Thanks lol. I believe this to be the problem I'll be buying g a bottle on way home from work and will try it out and keep an eye on the level, seems odd to suddenly empty it self? Or maybe it has been over a long period of time.

Turns our its leaking fluid in the steering rack. Found another thread on here about it, seems others have had similar problems with similar age dsg vans, not sure what vw will make of it with 60k on the clock but will give them a try, been quoted £1500 to repair by vw specialist
