streaming music via bluetooth, reduces volume?

Hi folks, not sure if anyone else has this issue, but it's driving me mad!!
I have a Highline Kombi with the standard VW Head unit (1K8035150E)
I stream spotify from my iphone through the stereo via bluetooth.
This function works fine, but i've noticed if the volume is turned right up, certain sound frequencies seem compressed as though it's hitting a decibel limiter??
This only happens when i stream music, anything played via CD or Radio is fine!
I've tried 'quiet-middle-loud' bluetooth volume setting, Is there something else daft i'm overlooking in the settings??
 
Is the volume limit and sound check switched on on your phone? That would suppress the sound.
 
I've notice that too. Better sounds from CD on mine but if it's phone settings etc I'm all ears. Literally! Also noticed with a USB connection, songs "jump" like a scratched record. iPhone 6 im using.
 
Have you setup custom EQ setting on your iPhone? I've found when you start customising the EQ, when it streams audio via bluetooth the volume is often about 15-20% lower than without any Custom EQ settings.
I have the same headunit as you and I need to go and double check if there was any Bluetooth volume settings on the HU or not. Not sure why but i'm sure there was. Mine is setup quite nicely,

Oh, and don't forget your Headunit relies on the volume set on your handset. Make sure when you start streaming audio from your phone that you turn the volume up on the phone. I tend to alway set mine to about 90% at least.
