Hi,
I'm relatively new to all of this tinkering with your van stuff, so please bear that in mind when replying and please don't judge any apparent dimness. I've been looking at B2B chargers. I have a split charge relay in my 2015 T6. I've seen the Sterling BB1225 that charges the starter battery too. I like this idea as I tend to pitch over the summer for three - four weeks+ in SW France and then 3 weeks in Devon/Cornwall and don't tend to move the van, so the ability to feed the starter sounds good with the "jump" start function. We got stuck last year with a dead starter in France and our 6am departure turned into a 10am departure and we nearly missed the ferry.
Anyway. The BB1225 needs a direct negative feed from the starter to leisure battery, which it looks like the SCR doesn't. Is it possible/acceptable to run the wire from the starter battery under the chassis of the van to the rear wardrobe where the leisure battery sits, I presume in some heavy duty covering? I have a hole for water drain that I never use so I can run the wire into that, which is very near to the leisure battery. The thought of getting everything through into the van, removing trim, seats, cabinets etc and then working a way through the conversion is not appealing in anyway.
The folk at Sterling suggested I could mount the BB1225 where my existing SCR is in the engine bay and use the existing positive wiring. A recent post on here suggests otherwise.
Any thoughts/feedback on the BB1225?
Appreciate any help at all.
BB
