Stay the night Scotland

For those of you who might not be aware and are keen some of Scotland's forestry commission car parks are going to allow self contained camping for a single night at a time.

Not every car park is included so check the link and interactive map.

It's encouraging though and opening up more opportunities to those wanting to get away for a short break.

FORESTRY and Land Scotland (FLS) is trialling an extension of its popular ‘Stay the Night’ scheme to run over winter at some locations

Instead of closing at the end of October, around 24 car parks across Moray, Perthshire, Argyll, Stirlingshire the Borders, and Dumfries and Galloway have remained open for visitors in self-contained campervans and motorhomes looking for an overnight stopping place.

It is welcome news - but be warned it says only campervans with 'self contained toilets' so many T5/T6 don't have this (including mine)

Depending on how anyone checking wants to interpret that it should be viable to have one of the emergency standby loos to hand and make sure you go before you park so you are unlikely to need it?

I'd imagine the intent is to stop a lot of nipping behind the bushes for a quick one before bed... If you can show that you've planned for that then hopefully everything will be fine?

You could just crap on the ground, pick half of it up in a plastic bag and leave it hanging on a tree branch like many dog walkers.

I have NEVER crapped on the ground whilst walking my dog although I do confess to having a covert pee if I've had too many brews with my toast.....
