Starting in warm weather

I seem to be having a bit of an issue with the van starting in this lovely warm weather, it will start but turns over quite a bit more than say in the morning when it's nice and cool, anyone else have this problem or know of a possible reason why? Would a battery that's on its way out cause this?

Hmmm... the glow plugs don't do preheat above approx. +15C +20 °C. However, I haven't noticed any significant difference when the engine actually starts up.
What about starting warm/hot engine on cool day - after 10-30 mins cool down?

Good question @mmi I will try that when I get to work in the morning, I also wondered if starting it again after 10 mins in the heat was worth a try. I guess it wouldn't hurt. You don't think battery would be an issue? Starts straight away in the morning.... Also thanks for the response.

Difficult to diagnose the battery remotely - if it cranks fine it sounds ok.
Any repairs done recently - cam belt replacement?

No nothing recently at all. Head scratcher. Will report back after testing starting a hot engine in a cool circumstance.

I’ve noticed mine doing the same thing over the last couple of days. No other faults I’m aware of. I’m sure I’ve never noticed it during previous hot spells. Strange....

I get the same symptoms if my battery is a bit discharged due to not using the van for a time , if i put it on a charger for a while it starts straight away, I dont think the temperature is to blame as i live in a hottish climate and for me its always been a partially discharged battery.
Next time its warmer stick the battery on a charger for 4 hours or so and see if it then starts straight away. Or if you have been driving for enough time to put some charge back in your battery, pull over, turn it off and see if it restarts straight away.
This may prove its only a partially discharged battery.

So test done and started fine... Will see how it is when I leave work later assuming it will be fairly warm again today.

@AussieMick point taken but I use my van daily so I wouldn't have thought discharge is an issue. I will try restarting after the run home this evening too. Thanks all for your input.

Surprisingly it started fine this afternoon, although it definitly wasn't as warm as yesterday. Maybe I'm just being paranoid.
