Starter AGM vs “leisure” AGM

Hello all,

Does anyone know whether there is any difference between a “starter” AGM and a “leisure” AGM battery, or is it just different branding?

I’ve asked a few battery dealers with mixed responses, I think probably due to possible voided warranty claims..

I’ve read the difference between lead acid starter and leisure batteries is the plate thickness, which helps with either bursts of heavy loads or long drains.

AGM batteries are similar in principle to liquid lead acids and the short bursts of amps is know as the cold cranking amps and starter batteries need to have the correct CCA to work. Leisure/deep cycle batteries often do have a CCA rating but not always a high amperage because they don’t always need to provide that high level of amps. However, if the leisure battery is being used in a caravan with motor mover then a high CCA is useful because a mover can draw a high current
