Hi all

I’m missing being in a Vw so having spoken to the wife we’ve decided on a splitty or early bay. Budget is silly high sadly at around 20k but hopefully something will come along

Please let me know what you have

Splits are coming down but all loads of projects about. Might be as people cash in on an asset. Ssvc is a good source as above. Think Wez Cooper of fb is trying to shift his, have you had one before?

I mirror what 3crispies says...Have you driven one? They are a completely different beast to a modern transporter, and not in a good way. I advise you drive one first before committing.

There’s so many good groups on Facebook and usually plenty of sellers

I've got admit every time I see a splitty I want one, they look almost delicate, in the right two tone and cheerful, almost the van equivalent of a loopy spaniel.
Thing is our camper Agnes starts, steers and brakes which with a splitty apparently you can only choose two of those three options.
Since reading this I've watched Harry's Garage on YouTube and with the best will in the world I think I would last about 5 minutes of being that mobile road block causing massive tailbacks before I did the right thing and shot myself.
Then, as the wound will be non fatal I'll see one at Busfest and the lust will start all over... blast all 23 of those windows!

Honestly late bays drive so much better than splits, but we did Cambs to Croyde few years back and it's so much concentration your knackered. Ours keeps up with modern traffic, runs a 1776cc, upgraded suspension and has 4 wheel discs but it's still a challenge. Would I swap it no way !!

I agree with the above, having had a '59 split and a succession of bay windows.
Late bays have the best steering, brakes and interiors as stock, but I prefer the looks of an early bay.
Being much modified I wouldn't say mine was a challenge to drive, I've been all over the country and most of France, Belgium, Holland and Germany in it.

Saw this one at Bideford Soapbox Derby today, but not convinced it's original and wasn't looking so pristine by the end of the day
