Spare wheel for Devonports

Hi,

I’m looking to put some Devonports on my van whilst I decide what alloys I want longer term.

I currently have 16” standard alloys 🫣 so hoping 1” will help the look (and no longer have smaller alloys than the wife’s Tiguan!).

My question is whether the spare wheel is ok as it is, I haven’t got it out but would assume it’s 16” to match the current alloys. Can I leave this as is or am I best to get another davenport as the spare?

Also will my current bolts be ok to bolt the Devonports straight on?

Thanks for any help, finding the wheels a bit of a minefield at the moment!

Yes should be fine, any VW manufactured wheels (alloy or steel) use the same bolts
Vans from the factory with devonport alloys have a steel spare, if you want to be sure then input the tyre sizes of the steel spare and an alloys into willtheyfit.com and you can compare the rolling circumference

What size would the steel spare be when the van comes with Devonports? I guess my question is, if I have 17” Devonports on and I need to pop the 16” steel on due to a puncture, would that be ok?

All rolling circumferences are similar, as wheels get bigger tyre sidewalls get smaller so the overall diameter shouldn’t be too far apart

Again if you want to be sure, use willtheyfit.com to compare

I went from the factory 16"Clayton alloys to 17" Devonport's some years ago and was assured that the original 16" spare was OK to use. When I checked it out properly for myself, there seemed to be a small overall difference in size (can't remember what it was exactly exactly though) but I made up my own mind that it would be OK, albeit I decided to keep the speed down to 50MPH and spend as short a time as possible before getting a repair. I think size differences become more critical when it comes to 4 x 4.
