Solar wiring

So has anyone run the solar cables through the tailgate rubber wire protector? To save cutting a hole in the roof of the van?

That’s the one thing that’s holding me up with solar at the mo, I don’t want to drill an extra hole. Be interested to hear people’s ideas.

My plan is to only plug them in when parked up. The panels will be mounted to the roof rails. I'll run the cable through the passenger window to a socket on the left hand side of the passenger base. Just need to find a local seller of solar panels to get on with it. Oh yeah and make sure nobody uses the passenger door!

Those grommets are not there on the tailgate model. Used for the hinges.

This is a possibility I’m thinking about. But it seems a shame to spend all the money on solar then not use it all the time. Plus the hassle of putting it on and off.
