can anyone recommend a social type app or website for route planning / itineraries that people have done on particula routes, say UK down to Italy?

I just use google maps, save my own routes and layers with campsites etc.

I use TrackMyTour to record our trips. Let’s our mothers, kids and friends see where we are and helps us remember what was where! Some people make their trips public so you can see their routes, good places to stay,eat etc.

Here is a trip we did:

Norway On The Hurtigruten - On a whim decided to book a readers offer Northern Lights trip over a year ago and now it has come round. Assuming flights are ok on Tuesday.

You can only use the app in Apple but anyone can view your trip via a specific web address.
