Slave cylinder/ release bearing one unit?

Had a service and MOT yesterday, and got the mechanic to tell me what he thought about the potential DMF rattle and noise when pressing + releasing the clutch. All DMF related apparently. Recommends doing in the next 12 months but has heard a lot worse.

So we got talking about what other jobs can be done whilst the gearbox is off. I asked about the clutch release bearing. He said the slave cylinder and release bearing are all in one unit. Not heard that before, they seem to be talked about separately on all the forum searches I've done on the subject. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, it’s a concentric unit.

You might want to consider replacing the drive end crankshaft seal as well, they don’t have a great record for longevity.

I did mention that. He said it's not normally something that's replaced but won't be a problem.

5-speed has an external slave cylinder IIRC. However, if the gearbox is being removed to replace the dmf, I'd fit a full clutch kit, including release bearing and slave cylinder. Also worth checking the gearbox mounts.
