See this video I just took:

Dropbox - File 18-09-2016, 19 00 22.mov

Just checking if that is normal, at the back there is no movement but at the front there is quite a bit.

I bought the converted van second hand from an established dealer, will contact them tomorrow but just wondered if my mind might be put at ease, or perhaps not.

Cheers

Doesnt look right to me, far to much gap, imagine how much wind and rain will get in that gap when driving !
Dont want that lifting at speed, i would get straight back to the dealer and see what they will do about it

Cheers for that, yes, definitely doesn't seem right, I'll phone up tomorrow and see if they can advice.

Was it like that when you bought it ?
How old is the vehicle/how old is the roof ?

The vehicle is just over a year old, the skyline I believe was done earlier this year.

How does the clamping mechanism work? Is there any adjustment in the clamps?

That looks like it is springing on something. What is between the body and it? Either you have the roof canvas bunched in there or you have a roof bed with too thick a mattress or stuff stored on it. Or at worse it is very badly fitted!

Whatever no way should the front of your pop up roof sit proud. At speed there will be wind pressure under there trying to force the roof open so keep your speed well down until you get it sorted.

I would suggest that at an MoT it should fail. In which case the dealer should not have sold it in that condition. Was it a dealer who specialises?

Cheers all, I got it sorted, think it was a combination of things:

1) I needed to pull tighter with the two straps at the front
2) There is a swan light up top, I pulled this down into the cabin
3) I folded the canvas a bit better.

There is very little movement now at the top.

The dealers does a lot, human error on my part.

I think I still need to get the canvas rollup a bit neater, the dealer told me to pull all the canvas in when you pull it down, then roll it in, at least thats what I interpreted, not sure if there is an art to it, it does like tidier than it did in any case.

Too true :)

On a sort of related note, is there anything you can buy to slide out and keep the front bit of the roof covered up?

We hired a van a few weeks ago before buying this one, it had a hilo roof which was too much of a faff, however, it didn't keep it all tucked away nicely when down, unlike the Skyline.

Cheers

From the inside? If so I think there is a piece that just Velcro' s in place.

Skyline contacted me back, they sell a front cover panel that covers all the front up inside, £100 inc. vat fitted, seems a no brainer.
