(Side Assist) / (Blind Spot Detection & Rear Cross Traffic Alert) retrofit

id love this . . . . .

But as i always have LWB vans VW tell me that i cant have it !!!!!

why is it available on SWB and not LWB - nobody can give ma an answer? VW just say its not available on LWB so tuff!!

id be interested . . . . . . depending on cost.

id assume its:

rear quarter radar detectors?
looms?
possible module?
side mirrors with SA indication?
bit of coding?

might be time for a bit of schematic digging?

nice bit of info from @Loz over here > Side Assist

.

nice . . .

might be worth an email to Kufatec and ask if it fits on LWB and SWB . . . . . see what they say.

Just give them your VIN and they will confirm compatibility.

am not sure VIN check works like that for LWB

it could be
- just no as default answer from VW since it has never been fitted to a LWB
- requires longer harness
- attachment points not available in lwb vs swb
- maybe the length of the vehicle does not match anymore in the software and it doesn't always work well enough

until someone attempts it we'll never know for sure...

Wiring is very simple

but this calibration makes me wonder

well, once it is installed, can you bring it to a vw garage so they calibrate it.
it's not always possible to do everything by 1 person/ 1 location...

Only P&P with =rear hatch , once you have barn door not easy,.
Side assistance module is place under lights ,
I made in my with barn doors, I mounted it lower...... under bumper on site tow hitch
still need pull wires , but look good

Pre-owned modules don't need to be calibrated(credit to @spacewalker ;))and they are way cheaper.
Just bought 2 units with 2 brackets and 2 plugs for £100 delivered.

Unfortunately it is very hard to buy pre-owned LED warning lights for mirrors cause most people sell them as complete mirror units.
I found 2 new ones for £90 delivered so have to digest it somehow now.

I have asked Kufatec for a SIDE ASSIST wiring loom on its own earlier on.
And believe or not but they have added new item to their online shop.;)

I have it standard on my Kombi, it switches off when you have trailer on too, then you need to remember to reactivate it once you disconnect the trailer.
