Collected my T6 Camper today and its my first camper I've owned so I literally have nothing to furnish it.

Would Go Outdoors be a good option to take a visit to and pick up a few bits? Im talking things like plates, cups, kettle, folding chairs etc etc. I honestly do need everything!!

Any other options for physical shops I could visit?

Good for looking around but don't be taken in by the prices, the obligatory discount card brings it down to reasonable prices.

Camping & Caravan club gets a further discount, others might also?

Being a tight arse (aka canny shopper)...
Look through your loft first, you may find long forgotten picnic sets, chairs and associated bits and pieces. Then try friends and family, the FB marketplace and Ebay.
Don't feed the man. GoOutdoors I personally find pretty poor in York. Low or no stock and poor choice

I’m with @Sackmycook on this one. I think they are tat warehouses!

Don’t rush out to buy all the gear. You’ll find that you have enough to get started with and then pick up quality items as you go along. Each thing you pick up adds to your van and add memories (especially if they are a purchase during a trip away!)

Caravan show at NEC next week would be a good place to visit….especially for ideas and an occasional show special offer.

The discount card is worth it for the price guarantee on higher ticket items, if you find it a bit cheaper elsewhere they will beat the lower price by 10%.

Having met Mr Ashley in the course of work, his senior manager warned me to be careful around him as he sheds his skin up to 12 times a year. As he now owns Go Outdoors he isn’t fit to get any of my cash. This is my personal experience and you should really make your own choices.

What !!
Fat Mike owns GoOutdoors ?!!!

I've got £60 on a gift card to be used, shame it's going in his grubby hands.

Erm….just to pour salt into your gaping wound…..he has the dosh already! (He trousered it in return for a tatty piece of cardboard called a “gift card”!!!) Worse, if he shoves the enterprise into administration, gift card holders are at the bottom of the food chain!

This has spurred me on to sort out and sell all our gear from our caravaning days. I packed it all away thinking that one day, when it's just the two of us, we might have another 'van'. The reality is we will probably not.

We accumulated virtually everything over 8 years, so I thought I would sell it as a job lot. I'll have a sort out over the weekend and get a for sale add sorted. It will be well worth a trip to Shropshire for someone starting out.

Good idea.

Also, posting a “Wanted” ad for a newbie would be useful

Towsure in Sheffield is worth a visit.
Good shout on Towsure.

Since Camperlands moved there isn't a decent independent that I know of around GM.

Decathlon is also worth looking at.

Yes, I'm a big fan of Decathlon, especially when we are in France... Great range of inflatables too
