She’s here - no conversion yet. What would you do?

I would drive it around a bit first, get a feel for it and see where it takes you. Don’t rush to do anything. I’ve had mine nearly 12 months and still undecided!! I’d just enjoy it for a bit first. Awesome looking van;)

Van looks like a great blank canvas - already got the basics sorted with the suspension and wheels. I love ascot grey.

As above, deffo drive it around for a bit as is to get used to it, shake down any initial teething troubles you might have and decide what you want to do before heading down one costly path that might not work out.

What are you intending to end up with? a Kombi, a campervan, a day van, something to transport a bike, a fishing van?

What layout? Don’t go for the traditional layout if it doesn’t work for you.

Are you planning on a pop top? Windows all round or just in the sides?

I would approach things in this order to save having to undo work already done and make things easier (if budget allows)…

Strip out bulkhead/ply lining
Get windows installed
Get pop top installed if planning on one/budget available now
Sound deaden
Insulate
Install wiring
Carpet lining
Install anything that involves drilling holes in van floor e.g gas drop out, diesel heater, rock n roll bed, rails
Flooring
Cabinets/furniture

Most important of all - enjoy

Have a think about how you are going to use it. Our T6 will go through a two stage process - currently a family transportation / holiday luggage lugger / SWMBOs mobile changing room (open water swimming).

In a couple of years it is being converted to a camper when the kids are doing their own thing!
