Due to a balls up, I now have a nice clean set of 16" steel wheels off a T5 if they are any use to anyone.

I basically in my irrational way purchased a set of 16" steel wheels locally off eBay, and had them fitted with a new set of huge 4x4 tyres to stick on my T6 until the council get round to either clearing up all the excess road that seems to be firing down the side of my van, or they do their usual temporary patch repairs to all the potholes.
I opted for the 4x4 tyres to make them look a bit more aggressive as you do. (or as I seem to do)
However, as some might already know, but I didn't, the 16" steel won't fit on the 204 T6 with it's extraordinarily large brakes. (i'm not even sure if they will fit any T6, but someone will confirm i'm sure)

Thankfully my tyre man took off the 4x4 tyres and didn't charge me.

I now have a nice clean set of steels that I don't need, plus the caps.
I paid £85 for these yesterday, but if I can get £50 back, I will be a little less annoyed.

Hi Mr T.
What size tyres you putting on then ?.

255/45/19 104 rated.

The Continentals are an amazing tyre, and give excellent wet and dry grip, but I'm fed up with buying expensive tyres now. I've been through pretty much every premium brand of tyre because of the miles I do. I find them so varied with wear rates, and some of the most expensive sets, wore out the fastest.
So i've opted for a set of Nexan N'fera su1. They seem to have surprisingly good reviews for a mid range tyre, and they are less than £100 a corner fitted.

Good call.l !.
I had a set of Nexens on my 160ps Vivaro and got 20k out of them. Good road manners in the dry and the wet.

I'd be really interested in some feedback from you on how the slightly wider tyres look/feel on your 9" wide rims, as lkke you, I'm running 245/45r19 and they look just a little too narrow for the rim width.
Cheers.

I'm running 8.5" rims with an ET45 and they sit perfectly level with the arches.
The current tyre setup is 678mm top to bottom and 245mm wide.
The new tyre setup will be 711mm top to bottom and 255mm wide.

I'd be happy with 20k from a set of tyres. The premium ones never saw more than 16000. Best being a set of previous Continentals, worst being a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 at only 10000 miles.
Quietest set of tyres ever owned were a set of Dunlop Sport9000, and worst set of tyres were a set of Kumho's (all on my previous 2015 Vivaro)

I'm actually looking forward to seeing how the slightly bigger setup looks under the arches.

@.50 As requested, bit of feedback going wider

There is an obvious visual difference, and quite a surprising one. They certainly fill the arches better, and although I do prefer the stretched look, they are about as practical as me in a tyre shop, selling wheels. I had caught a kerb twice with the right hand tyre, but not on the face of the wheel. It was as I drove off a very shallow kerb, the wheel dropped on the exposed edge.
Hopefully the new tyres will cure this now.

All in all, i'm happy with the result and changing from 245/40 to 255/45 seems to have hit the sweet spot I needed. As for the tyres, it's hard to tell yet. They feel a little more comfortable, and there's actually far less wheel spin off the mark, as the previous Continentals in the wet, but only time will tell if I like them or not.

Thanks T.

I think you've nailed there with 19" set up. ( also in my opinion ).
Tyre width seems perfectly matched to rim width and the profile to wheel diameter looks spot on. ALSO you are not far off correct rolling radius of standard 17" wheels/tyres.

19" Continentals have now gone.

Steels still available to offers now. I just want them out my garage.

These wheels are now going for FREE. I just want them out my way, and it seems a waste to scrap them.

Here's a little inspiration, so you can see they look pretty bad ass on chunky tyres:
Obviously these tyres are not on the rims anymore, but the actual tyres were less than £50 each. So FREE rims, and a couple of hundred quid and you have a cracking set of winter wheels for next to nothing. If they are still in my garage by the end of next week, the metal man will be having them, which will be gutting, but I need that gap in my garage for another set.

Collection from Leicester, or potentially the T6 forum courier service, or i'm at these locations next week. Nottingham, Loughborough, Newport Pagnell, Kendal, and Preston if that helps?
