Hi I’ve just noticed that my drivers seat belt warning has stopped functioning.. anyone know why this may be ? A fuse ? The wiring looks fine nothing has changed I’m not sure when the problem started but I first noticed it today .

Contact switch in the buckle is acting up.
I would suggest to apply some lubricant( Spray Grease but not WD-40) through the slot. Next engage and release the seat belt couple of times and your indicator light and audio warning should resume its functionality.

If not then you would need to strip your buckle and release jammed switch or worst case scenario get it replaced.

Sounds like a plan … one thing though Carista is finding a fault in “ central electronics “ can’t be spending another £10 to get fault code though until I eliminate basic mechanical error of the contact switch

You could reveal the fault code e.g. by using app
Car_Scanner_ELM.png
which can take advantage of the Carista dongle.
The free portion of the app will do the job - thus already £10 towards your VCDS fund
Well, at least the Android version does it. Haven't verified the iOS version.

This seat belt switch is connected to "AIRBAG" controller so your existing DTC in "central electronics“ shouldn't be related.

So anybody know how to dismantle this cursed buckle ? All the silicone spray in the world is not releasing this damn switch .. I keep finding myself starting driving without a seat belt so I think the reminder is really important despite the fact that this is amazingly not an mot failure ! I want it working

You can disable/enable this warning in Carista. Is it just one seat that doesn’t work? If it’s both it would be worth toggling the disable/enable to see if it springs in to life.

Only the drivers seat has this warning … my passenger seat is the standard double and never showed any warnings
