Seat belts and MOT

One of my rear seatbelts in my Kombi snags slightly on a shelf unit and retracts very slowly or needs retracted manually. Other than that it works as it should and locks etc when it has to.

My question is whether or not this is an MOT fail?

The unit can be modified so the belt works as it should but want to check before undertaking any mods.

I don’t think I’d take any chances, even if you know the belt will never be used.

Take the seat out? They can't test what isn't there.

My Kombi went for its test with just the two front seats in as I use it to move stuff, no problem, passed, as you say there is no reason why the seats have to be in the back.

If you have a seat belt it should function as intended ,but not a testable item if seat not fitted I am a mot tester
