Seat air bags

Hi fitting seats with side air bags want to disable or make safe so not to go off and damage seat will cutting the wires and shorting out do this
have read that some carry backup Power suppy in case battery damage and static electricity can set off

I would think as long as they are disconnected you will be fine. However airbags scare the shite outta me so I tend to approach very cautiously.
