I'm a bit prone to waffling so I'll try keep it as brief as I can
If you have any questions or want some close up photos let me know
I'll post an update after a good time so you can see how it's getting on.
TLDR: I really like it!
Not an ad - I lack the influence and clout to get this for free or at a reduced price.
Details
Base van: T6.1 LWB, no work done on roof prior to fitting
Work requested (prices on website):
Order process
Was simple, I called their office and spoke to a member of staff.
We had a back and forth dialling in what I wanted and then after receiving my quote I paid my deposit
I had approx 2 months wait until my fitting date after paying my deposit.
Pre fitting
Upon arrival, I was greeted by friendly staff who talked through the job, confirmed my decisions such as position of lights & location of cable runs.
I think they would accept any last minute changes within reason.
They had a look around the van for any issues with my van and asked me to list any that I knew of.
As soon as that was over they quickly started to start covering my van for protection.
I left my van at the premises at 8:15am and was asked to return at 3:30pm
Post Fitting
When I arrived back at 3:30 they had finished the fitting and where just taking photos of their work.
I had the warranty and care guide explained to me and then had a full walkthrough and demonstration with a member of staff.
Product review
Cable runs: All cables routed down the drivers B pillar (their preferred option) all cables labelled and a good length
The black box on the roof that houses antennas(?) was removed and all the internal gubbins are now located within the inside centre of the headliner where the SOS, interior lights are.
The pop top's quality is good. I particularly like that the canvas feels premium, the finish (including carpeting) really fits seamlessly with my part converted van.
The bed supports 2 people and is easy to raise and lower, I cant comment on the mattress in such a short space of time but it is not as bad as the California mattress I have used in the past.
Canvas has an interior elastic strap to aide closing. Roof closes quite easily and uses a strap system for security.
I had a 4 hour drive back home after the fitting and I was really happy with the road noise, it was a great improvement to my bare metal roof. My previous car was an MX5 so literally anything I drive has better road noise than that so I might not be the best judge in this respect.
I was expecting some hit to my mpg but on completing my journey I saw no noticeable difference via my vans console. I calculate and record my mpg after each fill up so I will know in time.
I did notice one of altitude roofs pop tops on a Renault Vivaro whilst I was there, I was quite impressed how well scribed it was to the vans non flat contours.
Useful info
I was told that the pub, Britannia inn, is part of pub stopovers so you can stay there the night before.
I didn't know about the pub prior (and I arrived at 11pm) so I stayed in a local street, felt safe enough and nice and quiet (what3words: ///settled.napped.quilting)
If you are going to have a walk about (I suggest you do) bring decent footwear. Lots of hills, beaches and town to walk around.
I had a nice English breakfast at the Bluebells coffee house in Par.
Not many toilets out and about so tie a knot in it or find a bush.
