Reverse crunch

Looking a bit of advice from other transporter owners
Recently purchased 2021 t6.1 5 speed transporter from the local dealer .

After owning the van a couple of days I noticed when selecting reverse it would crunch but then if your really gentle with selecting reverse and slowly select it will go in to reverse with no crunch …. Anyone else had this problem or is it just me

Took it to the dealer they said they had 2 different mechanics drive the van and they couldn’t get it to crunch .

Sounds quite normal for these and a lot of cars.

Your choices are, keep the clutch pressed and van stationary for a second or two before selecting reverse, or just select a forward gear before reverse. Always make sure the van is stationary which ever option you go for.

Lots of cars have a synchro for reverse, and if you come from a car that does, then you're more likely to notice the crunch.
