Hi I want to retro fit rear parking sensors I’ve read lots of threads on it and my understanding is that if I buy ..
Parking sensors
Control module
Rear loom

I can fit these and it will all work on my head unit can anyone confirm if I’m correct please .
Thanks Sean

Thanks for your reply does the reversing Module need a loom or will it plug straight in ?
Also where is the module located ?
Thanks Sean

Hi guys,

Oem sensor kit with the intention to use park pilot.

Total novice here, I’m attempting to retrofit my own rear parking sensors, i have the module in place under the dash with all looms/sensor loom in place ready to be connected up. I have under the dash/steering wheel open currently and just can’t figure out where these remaining cables go. Can anyone explain where these go please?

I’ve downloaded every document available to try and understand this but just can’t get my head around it.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Hold fire and someone who knows a lot more than me will be along to help (especially as you sound like you’ve done a lot of searching already!) That is a distinct advantage of this helpful forum!

To search the forum (better) from Google put site:t6forum.com and a space before your search string (eg “parking sensor”) and Google will search the forum better than the embedded search facility

Hope this helps

Update, orange and black I have taken to my pdc,

Now on to my orange/violet (can high) and orange/brown (can low) I have located where these need to go (73 pin white connecter pin no 18 and 19, however how do I add additional cables to pins that are already taken up?

Still not worked out red and brown yet but will in due course or until someone helps out with that too!

Looking up it looks like it could be red positive and brown earth?

Struggling to get an additional cable into the pins 18 or 19 for the two can cables. If this is the case will I need to splice into these?

Yes just join into any pair that colour that is accessible, up to you how you do it, think most will solder on to existing cables but you could cut and crimp the old with the new ?

Afair red needs to be ignition switched pos so middle column of fuses in the dash fuse box

Hi all, me again,

So I believe I’m at the point of all cables installed and ready to code.

An issue however is I now have oil light coming on with oil workshop on dash, not sure if me splicing into can bus cables has caused this?

Hi all,

Hoping someone can shed some light into how I code in the rear sensors to my t6 via vcds.

T6 Startline so no sensors at all from manufacture so I don’t have module 10 in regards to park assist.

Currently have pdc module fitted waiting to be coded

Just need to add it to gateway
Module 19
Installation list
Then tick box 10

This will add the PDC module to the system
I assume the PDC module is already coded ?

After this you will prob need to code the headunit to display the sensors, not sure what exact changes will need to be made but
Module 5F
Long Code Helper
Then scan through all the bytes and see if theres any parking related ones

Splicing in itself should not cause anything.

Disconnect the plugs from PDC module and see if that helps, might if for example can wires are the wrong way around or the module is borked. Then read the fault codes and see what the actual issues are - I bet there’s a ton if it’s a can issue.

There is a lot of fault codes, I have attached my scan before the retrofit and then a scan after in its current state, I can try removing pdc and re scanning if this will help anything but it does appear to be in bad shape from the faults given

Thanks pauly, the pdc module was bought for a t6? Not sure if this is what you mean by coded

I added the pdc to install list but my VCDS doesn’t appear to connect to this module once installed

Lot of communications issues which could point to the can issues.

Low voltages for sure don’t help either. I would put the van into charging and double check the splicing meanwhile to make sure it’s not shorted and that can wires to PDC module are the right way around.

Disconnecting the module until you’re in a better place in terms of error codes is worthwhile though since then you can figure out if it’s a wiring or module issue.

As above double check the CAN high and CAN low are correct way.

Here is the fault code scan after pdc is disconnected and taken away. Going to double check can cables now and see if there is anything that doesn’t appear correct

I had Discover Media and reversing camera when I added PDC module. Apart from the module itself looking at my OBD11 log what’s below seems to be the only thing I needed to change in 5F multimedia - unfortunately the log does not show numeric values. I remember there was some issues though and tried some other adaptations (now looking like irrelevant) and then it suddenly started working

Adaptation

Control unit: 5F Multimedia

Name: Vehicle_configuration

Values:

OPS_display_in_dash_board_display_unit:

Old value: off

New value: on

Mileage: 33420 km

Date: 2020-07-29 15:46:52

Edit: the issues I had related to get both camera and sensors working at the same time
