I have some Audi seats with heating and have picked up a used climate panel on eBay with the heated seat buttons. Does anyone know how much of a job it is to retrofit this and get it working? I have seen posts on full retrofit with the panel, loom and pads, but what about with non transported heated seats that already have heating module etc? Anyone done it? I have heard of possible component protection and coding needed but not able to find anything concrete. It was a cheap buy so worst case will sell it on but thought it was worth a punt as they don’t come up often.

No component protection involved with this retrofit. Just seats + suitable panel with switches + heated seat module (T6.1 specific not earlier versions) + suitable loom for the seats you are installing + coding/adaptations changes with vcds/obd11
Thanks. The one thing I’m not sure about is the module. I’m fitting audi s8 seats. They can be made to work easily enough with aftermarket switches, but not sure if they would work with this. The guy I was speaking to also said he’s not sure if I’d also need a body control module as power comes from the bcm not the switch
You need to decide which way you going here -aftermarket switches or oem as it looks like you’re mixing the two together here.
No need for any bcm change you just need what I said above. If you want aftermarket switch mess ignore the rest as it won’t work with it.
It’s either oem proper way or messy aftermarket switch way.
With oem setup the switch doesn’t power anything other than regulates the temp sensor temperature. The module is the heart of the operation of the heated seats.
Aftermaket switch hits the pads with full voltage at all times and there’s no way to regulate it properly. Either on full blast or off.

I wasn’t mixing them up just trying to work out which way to go. I understand I cant mix the 2. So if I go the OEM route with the panel, do you know if the T6.1 module will work with non transporter heated seats? Is the module normally part of the seat? Don’t suppose you have a link or part number by any chance please? Thanks
Yes any VAG group seats can be made to work with the module. Apart from some Audi A1 or Polo seats as these don’t have temp sensors fitted due to different setup they use.
My suggestion is stick to the oem way and stay away from any other switches. Also the panel you got has to be transporter specific not any other than 7LA part number as it won’t work in T6.1

They all are different and normally made to suit the car and seats being fitted. Wouldn’t think kufatec can offer anything even close enough to match what you have
