Removing key whilst in not in Park on DSG

I am sure my van would not let me remove the key unless it was in Park

Now, it seems I can remove the key whilst in drive or neutral and then it will roll away.

Has something broken, or have I got a bad memory?

T6 2018 DSG.

Can switch off engine, but can't remove key unless in Park.

My previous T6 DSG and my new T6.1 DSG were the same and had to be in park
Theres an interlock that should stop it from coming out, its also similar the other way around, you should not be able to take the lever out of P unless engine running etc

I imagine this would be an unusual fix which probably means it wont be cheap ?
If it was mine and it has no undesired effects not sure i would be too worried about it ?

The problem is another car I drive switches to park when you key off.

My problem is when swiveling the seat I have to take the brake off, so if it isn't in park it will roll forward as even in D it isn't in gear.

Fortunately it is just about still in the 3 yr warranty (though I took the extension to 5 years)

Out of interest , do You have a spare(new) key you can test this with? (Thinking it might be a worn key)

Hi. understanding even t6 electrical circuits, I’ll say that your ignition lock solenoid is not working! n376

It was the microswitch in the shift lever, replaced under warranty.

Took several days, as the shift lever had changed design and the illumination didn't fit so that had to be replaced as well

Do you still have the old lever illumination? There is a member on here looking for one.

It was done at the dealership, so I didn't see it. They only told me as it took an extra day longer to fix.
