Remapping software Concern

Im hoping to get a remap for my 150 highline when its warranty expires after this October, possibly by Bognor Motors as they seem to get good reviews! However my concern is thus,
On collecting my van from my local vw main dealers last week from an oil service i chatted to one of the service managers and discussed about getting a remap, He told me that it wasn't a good idea because if the van had to go in for a recall or a software update for any reason then the update would erase the remap from the vehicles system. Is this info correct or am i being given incorrect advice?

I've heard this one before but only second hand accounts on other forums. Maybe some of the others on here can add to this. I remapped both my T5's but they were both quite a bit older than a still in warranty T6 and didn't get any recalls. I'd imagine it's a possibility depending on what the recall is but I'd still go for the remap. I'll be getting mine done next march when my warranty runs out.

If you buy a re-map, you can have it re-applied, if wiped. We deal with loads of vehicles in and out of warranty, and to flash a van back to standard, for a dealer visit then refresh it back onto the vehicle afterwards, we charge £50 inc vat, this is purely to cover our time.

So say i was taking the van in for a routine service would i need to take the map off?.

I had my Euro 5 140 mapped by Oli's team @BognorMotors a couple of weeks back. I'd waited until my warranty was over, but I don't think it's a major issue.

I am really pleased with the Revo map, power is there earlier and you don't get the lag that was there as standard. Mine's a DSG and it's really smooth, basically the increased torque means as you shift up means you don't get the delay in pick up as before, plus it holds gears better especially on longer inclines.

It's not the most aggressive mapping, I know others quote more torque and bhp, but it's so driveable as it's been developed for the real world so I'm really pleased that I invested :)

It's the insurance butt-f that scares the beejeebers out of me with a remap. If love to do mine :(

My remap cost me absolutely nothing more on my premium, and it is all declared and legal.

Ditto - told A Plan last renewal that I was going to map it during the year, and made no difference to the premium.

So sorry quote me right please, is that correct if engine remapped every time it goes in for a service it will be wiped?
I've just had a Pendle put on mine and very pleased with it. All i was told that if still in warranty which it is not to ask for any software updates in order not to loose it

No a normal service will not affect it at all. If however there is a “software update” and they apply it then it would. I don’t worry about it as I don’t use VWCV centre for my servicing, but a top notch independent specialist. I ask for a service that is what they do, to the book, no bullsh1t3 software updates, which lets be honest are never for the good of the owner - just yet more power turn-downs to get over yet more VW scandals.
