rear camera off when engine running

hi, i have a problem with the rear view camera. i'll start by saying that it's not original but after encoding with vcds with the ignition on it works fine, the problem arises once the ignition is turned on. the image disappears and flickering appears.
i tried to change the 12v connection but i didn't get any results.
advice?

It’s a common problem. Use the reverse light to switch a relay to supply a clean supply to the camera. There is 12v available at the wiper motor.

thanks. the connector i used has three cables, blue brown and white. as per instructions i used brown as negative, blue connected to the positive reverse light and white to 12 v.
on which one should i put the relay? what specification should i look for for the relay?

Just a standard automotive relay will be fine. Where have you taken the 12v supply from?

from the service battery, I have a california.
does a voltage regulator do the same job?

Ah ok. The 12v from the reverse light is not clean 12v. It’s switched by the BCM using PWM it may be this that the camera doesn’t like. As a test, with the engine running connect the white and blue wires to the service battery and see if you get an image

thanks, I'll try this evening when I get back. At the moment using the cali it works about 70% of the time. The others flicker.

thanks for the advice. I solved it with a power stabilizer on the cable from the reverse light to the camera. everything works perfectly now
