Kombi glass colour

Around 1994 had a mk3 escort xr3i in mettalic grey it was a beauty but insurance was silly on it, drove it from Shropshire to st Ives the A30 was single roads from Exeter all the way down

Last xr3i mk3 I had dealings with, was a mates... Had to stitch it all back together due to rot! Landed up stripped out interior to do the work inside and out, including floors, chassis legs and Spring cups, arches, inner and outer sill work including strengtheners etc etc etc.... Still, lasted a few years for him afterwards... Pig of a favour job, but fun as well, seam welding everything! Yep I'm a closet masochist!

My wheels were always German - Opels, including Kadette Coupe with 2.8 Commodore lump, followed by a Manta B with a 2.4 Blydenstein conversion, many happy days rwd drifting!

No problem m8 any time  just ask for privacy tint not green tint as that's same colour as front door glass .don't do like I did first time round

So just called my local TPS branch. £127 plus vat so only a small price difference however they couldn't tell me off the system if that part code was Privacy Tint or Green Tint. Only that it states it's Factory Tint.
I'm a bit nervous just to push the button as they don't accept returns for glass unless they have supplied the wrong item.

@Caravellet6 We had a nice Taunus 12M Coupe in red that had a V4 engine. Looked tiny in the bay as the same shell could house a V6 with all the extras. Bought when it was 2 years old and sold it after many miles when I bought my first new car. It was a lovely car. I always favoured the Taunus over the Fortuna in the 70s. Happy days :D:rolleyes:

Bleeding predictive text again - should read Cortina and not Fortuna. The Fortuna was made by second hand dealers and was not a Ford model as far as I am aware !

I will have a look on my receipt tonight for you m8 see what part numbers there is on there

I spoke to the dealer who I bought mine from, he said that the mid side windows on the Kombi was called Factory Tint. And agreed on the part number on your pic. SO i've ordered those, but obviously when you check your receipt... if the code differs please let me know ASAP.

So then, slightly stressful morning. Spoke to TPS, the two codes i.e. : one on packaging and another on receipt are slightly different glass items. (Darker or lighter I'm told) then whilst on the phone got a call to say the panels had arrived. (Next day delivery, I'm impressed and shocked) So I popped down to my local VW / audi specialist to take a look. And all looks perfect. So, at this stage I'd say if anyone is going down this route, use the codes on the packaging on pg3 of this thread.
After much mocking them up against the other glass, I'm certain they match perfectly to the mid window. They are definitely darker than the fronts!!

Here you can see the shading of the sky (not the reflected sky above the house) is the same with the same green tint and same level of privacy / darkness. (The side window is open to ensure accuracy in my basic test)

This is up against the rear panel just to see what it looks like with full glass. Not really a test to see if the match was right. More trying to see how the glass changed the overall appearance.

All good then m8 I've had my old green tint removed today and new factory tint fitted looks very nice but to dark to take a pic, will try 2moz as finishing work early.
I'm going to be cheeky 2moz and try return the green tint windows to tps as window fitter at national windscreens done a cracking job of removing them without a mark on them, cash or credit note will do ;)

@andythom188 Good luck with the return of the originals and hope you get either a refund or credit note. ;) Looking forward to seeing the photos tomorrow  Are you considering recommending the business that did the original panel cut and window fit, and then the removal and replacement ?;)

Removal and refit yes definitely A1 job very professional
I'm a charmer so hopfully will get the refund or credit note as I purchased the replacements from them aswel , I was miss sold the wrong colour glass ,well that's what I will tell them ;)

you will need to say it was miss sold. When I spoke to TPS yesterday about if I could return it if the part number i gave them ended up being the wrong part they said no.
That said, I ended up buying via a Garage who have an account with them so hence why I got it next day, with some discount off the retail price, free delivery and they said if it was not right they would try and sort it out.
If you bought it as a cash purchase and not account they don't seem to want to be too helpful with glass returns.

That was my plan to say I was miss sold and I purchased on debit card so think I might have some fun tomorrow , did ask him on Saturday if I could return, he said if they had made the mistake so I said to him is this the right colour glass this time as first lot was wrong and stuck at the converters, did mention 30 days return which was up today, I will try my luck, it was a stock item and they had it on the shelf so wasn't a special order, wish me luck

Got me refund aswel for the incorrect glass i bought told you I was a charmer;)
I see pts are doing carbon fibre mirror covers had a nosey at the parts list on the desk while they were sorting paper work out
