Potential new owner looking to purchase

Hi I recently rented a lwb T6 campervan for myself, wife and teenage daughter and totally loved it.

To the point that I am considering purchasing one.

The van had a Camper king conversion which was really impressive but I felt that it could do with some changes

1) the lift up roof bed wasn't very long and the hinge end was very narrow that she couldn't sleep with her head at that end. I have seen a few swb vans that had a higher hinge at that end which looks like you could sleep with your head either way to give you a longer length. Are these alternative roof mechanisms available on lwb and if so what are they called?

2) The fold down main bed was 2 seats. Are the 3 seats wider as a bed or the same?

3) anything to make the beds overall more comfortable other than general blow up beds?

Lastly what companies are recommended. I've seen a few about but if there are companies that are well renowned would be useful to know. I am sure there will be more questions along the way but am looking forward to joining the club at some point

Cheers Nigel

In general I think most would sleep with feet at the hinge end of the bed, I don't think any have enough headroom to sit up.

3 seat beds are much wider, but sacrifice a the normal kitchen layout. Personally I'd have 3 seat California Beach layout and do all cooking outside of the van.

There are loads of bed toppers available in various materials including memory foam, Duvalay's also seem to be popular. See mattress topper threads for more info.

What c_p said, why choose to sleep in the pop top opposite to the way it’s intended to be used?

You can get a rear seat for three along with a side kitchen but you are compromising space. We have one and it's fine for pre-teen kids but it's definitely getting tighter as they grow...

I assumed that was the way you slept but being 5.10 does mean she can't stretch her legs out.

Thanks for the other replies so far will look into the various layouts available

I’m 5’10” and I can sleep in my Reimo roof, 5’10“ is pretty much average.
