Pop-Top hole in canvas

Hi, a plastic nut cover on one of the scissor hinges came off and in a gale the canvas has bashed against it and done a small rip about half the way around the head of a nut. Incredibly irritating. What is the best way to seemlessly repair this? It is only maybe 5-10mm long and goes back completely together if pushed. We are going to have to sell the vehicle next spring so I’d like it looking as good as possible. Thanks.

I have used Kleiber Flick & Fertig Nylon Repair Tape to repair assorted rucsacks, jackets etc over the years with good results. Even survives the washing machine.
Not used on a tent or pop top though.
Works best if you can patch both sides.
Easy to apply. Cut to size. Peel off backing. Stick down.
Comes in assorted muted shades. Great if your roof is black, tan, beige, grey etc. Less good if it is turquoise, orange etc
I usually buy on eBay for ease. Also available at decent sewing shops.

Another vote for Kleiber. I've used the iron on patch version on my pop top when exactly the same thing happened to me. It needs a second pair of hands to hold a towel or something on the other side whilst it's applied, but other than that it's quite easy. Not peeled or come away at all in the 9 months or so since I did the repair.

Thanks I’ll look. Mines a dark blue. They do a dark blue so have ordered it to try.

A bit late for you now but I repaired a tear in my pop top canvas (or whatever material it is) with Tear Aid - not cheap but brilliant stuff which has now been on nearly 3 years and is still stuck firm and is still weatherproof. Before I did the actual repair on the roof, I stuck a piece onto a sample of the same 'canvas' and left it outside for a couple of months to see how it stood up. It eventually stayed out for a full 12 months (so in all weathers) and was still good. This is the stuff - there's a video at the bottom pf the page and it does exactly try what it says on the tin (or packet):

Looks good. Can you cut it with scissors to size? Our hole is very small.

@Outcycling. Yes, easily. IRC, the instructions specify how much extra you need to use around the hole (and to round off the corners). You might also find that McNett Tenacious Tape or Goretex Repair Tape (which I think is essentially the same stuff) would do the job more cheaply. Also, I recommend you do both sides of the hole if possible - my top tip would be to get somebody to help by holding a hardback book on the other side to give a flat surface to press against when your sticking it down.

Absolutely yes I’d planned to do it on both sides and use a solid surface to push against. Cheers
