Passenger handle

Hi,

Nervous passenger just pulled my flip up passenger side ‘ceiling’ handle. Appears to have pulled out on one side and now screw/ bolt just spins.

Any ideas of a fix?

Only self tappered into place .

The hole in the reinforcing part of the handle doesn't allow a fatter screw

Assuming it does now the threads have been ripped out .

Do you perchance have the part number/ pic of rivnut. I’ve just had look. The handle part hole is fine. The bit of the chassis or whatever is too big now for original screw

Ah, I see that’s a piece of kit I don’t have. Will try and source bigger screw maybe

No part number. I bought one of the cheapest rivnut tools I could find on Amazon after I borrowed one at spring camp.

6.5mm hole, M5 rivnut. Job done

Yes, that'll do it. Have a test on small piece of sheet metal before you commit to the final fix

Sited a rivnut.

Success

But now when I try and screw into it, rivnut turns.

Have I done something wrong?

Rivnut just not tight enough, screw the tool back on to it and see if you can get a bit of extra compression into it.
