Packing under ply floor

So I’m using 9mm ply to pack out under the 12mm floor. This seems the right width in the area by the sliding door but to the rear the low points of the floor become quite uneven and it looks like if I pack these areas I will create some serious high points. Do I try and get some thinner ply in? Not sure where to go with it. You can see the uneven floor in the picsE5F8F562-BB57-4AB7-AC9F-551EBDB101C4.jpeg

I packed most of the low points and had no issues. You should be fine

Good luck with your build just fill in the low spots with your 9mm and insulate the gaps the 12 mm floor its strong only needs supporting round the edges and a few in the middle like Davids pics once the batons are bonded to the van bed the ply floor wont move once its screwed to the batons don't over think it remember no one will ever see a lot of your worries and efforts.

I used 10mm ply (Okoume Marine) battens, insulation between this inserts and same 10mm ply on the top.

Took it for a converter to look at and he was quite puzzled why some of the low bits had essentially been pushed up. Weird he'd never seen this before!

I see the problem now in your first picture - that does look odd.
What version T6 is it, and have you had it from new ?

T6 high line 2016. I’m guessing it must have had a load of heavy shit thrown in the back. Think previous owner was in bands.

Hi folks

I’m just after a bit of advice.
I want to ply line the floor ready for a bed.
From reading some of the threads I need 9mm batten it glued to the floor, inbetween sound deaden, insulate then fix flooring to battens.
What thickness deadening and insulation do I need?
It’s a kombi van so as I’m replacing the floor with a 12mm sheet and Altria on top will i need new plastic step and rear threshold.

Cheers

Kombi steps and threshold are fine. Battens will evenly spread the load. Regarding sound reading 2mm will be fine, insulation wise it’s your call but there is an argument that it can trap moisture in the floor void

Thankyou Airhog, I did read something about the insulation trapping moisture on another thread, need to learn how to navigate this forum.
Thanks though, I’m going to crack on ready for a bed.

With regards to the lashing points… do I put the bolt back in or silicone the hole ??

All bonded and battened, I used puraflex 40 from tool station for bonding, 9mm marine ply B&Q.
Took the kombi seat brackets out by dropping the fuel tank and cutting 3 holes in the heat shield by the exhaust to get to the others, all put back tidy.
I put the lashing bolts back in thier holes and used the sealant/ bonding adhesive to fill the holes from where the kombi seats were nothing will be coming through them holes lol.

Sound deadend inbetween battens also took off covers for tailgate and sliding door and sound deadend them using dodo hex mat. Hell of a difference.
Waiting for floor now..

With the sound deadening between the 9mm battens does that now mean that the raised areas are a couple of mm higher than the battens ? Does the kombi step ,rear trim and seat bracket surrounds fit with the adding silent coat?
Thanks

i know this thread is a bit old now, but I've been told you just dont need packers... I'm about to fit my floor tomorrow which is 12mm ply.. do i actually need to bother with the 9mm in the low spots?

I haven't done this but my understanding is that most screw the 12mm ply to the 9mm battens whereas if you don't have the battens you have to either bond or screw the 12mm direct to the metal floor so i would do it the way it has been described above

yes, i had planned to just screw to the higher ribs in the floor, directly to the metal, FOr the sake of some ply i think i will put some strips in at this stage rather than regret it later

I think the problem with screwing into the metal is potential rust later on as you wont be able to treat the holes unless you take the floor out again
