We’re heading north in our T6 Kombi right now (204 TSI currently 34.3 mpg at 70 mph this trip btw) and will need to stop somewhere for the night

We’ve never slept in the van before and I’m getting the impression the local councils won’t let us sleep in their carparks

Can anybody help with a location for a nights sleep? Waking up to a view would be a bonus!

Total armatures at this kind of thing

:) thanks all

Not quite over the border but my sister lives just south of Berwick upon Tweed - the lane she lives on leads down to the sea with views over to Lindisfarne - there is some parking at the end of the lane and we often see solitary campervans or motorhomes parked there - well off the beaten track and the fantastic beach there is very quiet and mainly used by dog walkers so nobody is likely to bother you. It's off the A1, about 4 miles before you hit Berwick - look for the Island View Hotel and turn right just before you get there and follow the road down towards the sea - you'll pass a large barn and then a row of 4 cottages - the parking is about 1/2 mile further down the lane over the railway bridge.

Post code is TD15 2RW but your sat nav will take you to the golf course further south - just follow your nose for the last bit.

Follow the coast between North Berwick and Edinburgh. Or car parks on coast at Dunbar. I'd be surprised if anyone tried to move you on. Things are a little more easy going in Scotland compared to down south in terms of council land ownership. As long as it doesn't say MoD property and an area subject to local by laws, your not causing a disturbance or obstruction.

You'll find plenty of other vans overnighting at the end of this road most nights - it often feels like a campsite!
Google Maps
And as you can see from Streetview there, definitely a good view :)

That’s not camping, that’s dogging!
A whole different VW experience
Funnily enough there are other car parks on that coastline where the council don't recommend camping for exactly that reason!

Brilliant - glad it worked out for you - the beach there is stunning - did you have the place to yourself?

It was just us when we arrived but we were surrounded by cows come the morning :D

you can’t get a moment’s peace these days!
