Older engine in a T6

Knowing that the VW group 1.9tdi engine is one of the best motor vehicle diesel engines around and good for starship mileage I wondered what the implications are for fitting one in a T6?

Setting aside the electrical complexities for a moment, would the emissions be rated on the engine manufacture or body manufacture?

Its very appealing fitting a TDI engine thats fit and forget bar oil/filter changes and the odd DMF!

EDIT: Euro 4, 115PS, 46MPG at 80MPH with a 5 speed box.

Electrically the Engine of T5.1 (2009-2015) will work with smaller issues (ACC not supported without ECU Firmware patching)
Older Engines from T5 (2004 -2009) can probably work, the BCM does have a Feature to support older CAN-Bus Protocol, but no one ever testet if that really works.

Emissions will be the BIG Problem

In which country was this car sold ?

My 2005 1.9tdi started at 104bhp and ended up around 200bhp with the help of a hybrid turbo and injectors. 200,000 miles later I sold it. Two years on it’s still chugging along. No canbus, dpf to worry about. Miss my Helga so much 2C7320CE-7EE0-4588-95E1-5CD6BC3E536A.jpeg
