Hi all
One for you paint specialists.
I’m picking up my Black Shuttle on Friday, but it was a sponsor vehicle so has had some sign writing on the bonnet, and both front doors.
The dealer says they are going to ‘micro polish’ it before I collect it, but it’s going to be pissing down Friday so I won’t be able to inspect it in the sun.
Should I be concerned?
Will ‘micro polishing’ work?
If I can still see it, is there much I can do other than respraying? (It’s not bad enough to warrant that cost)
Thanks

Machine polishing will sort it out, I'd be surprised at the dealers being any good at it but there's two chances!

When I say the dealers are doing it, it’s going to a place that does this stuff. Allegedly...

This might sound like daft advice, but I'd tell the dealer to leave it alone, or anyone they are apparently using and just let a proper detailer sort out the issue.
The problem is often a dealer will just do the work themselves and make more of a mess, meaning a detailer might charge more to rectify their work.
I get that it's hard to pay someone to do something the dealer are offering to do as part of the sale, but it's the hardest colour to get right and the chances are even if they can sort out the sign writing problem, it might end up making the rest of the van look bad.
Your in @Clydiee neck of the woods, sort of. He's a good guy and knows far better than most dealerships.

No me either they would just bung a semi trained chimp on the buffer and probably make it worse, like the others are saying just ask them to leave is and let someone see it as it is and give thier opinion on it, they will probably be able to get it out nicely but you don’t want the dealer attacking it and thinning the paint, buffers are not the easiest things to use and can burn the paint

Thanks for all the info guys.
I didn’t explain myself well. They are not doing it themselves, or sending it to the body shop. They are sending it to a local detailer who does this sort of thing all the time. Cost is £240 so I’m told. I’ve got no reason to believe they are not being truthful either.
It’s a main VW dealer, so not a small independent. Not sure if that makes a difference, but just pointing it out.
Thanks

I'd go for it based on that

Thanks Buddy!

yep I wouldn’t trust a dealer to sort this I’m afraid. They’ll probably just go over it quickly and use polish with a high filler content. I’m in West Sussex and happy to assist.
