Hi guys new to the forum .i have recently purchased a 2015 t6 kombi My plans are to replace the factory head unit ,fit reverse camera and front parking sensors as I already have rears
Questions I want to ask is what is the better head unit kenwood, pioneer,or alpine ? Also will a oem reverse camera out the forum shop work with any of these or do I need to find ones that will pair with the choice of unit I go for ? Thanks for your input

I have a pioneer AVH 8700 BT head unit which I like. It works with my reverse camera but mine is an aftermarket one.

Not sure on the camera as my converter fitted it. Probably best to check with @Pauly to see if the genuine one in the forum shop will work.

Hi @Estwing welcome
The genuine camera kit terminates into the quadlock connector on the back of the stereo, it carries a standard video signal so will be compatible with any headunit that is capable of displaying a video signal, the thing you need to ascertain is if your chosen aftermarket headunit requires any adapters to accept the factory wiring
ps, the guidelines originate from within the camera so always display regardless of headunit

Really not sure as i have the factory nav unit so not tried any of the others out
Some say the Kenwood software/menus are not the best but others like them so take that as you will, the bonus of the kenwood is that it is developed in conjunction with VW so i assume it will plug straight in with no adapters or wiring changes.
A few people have changed already so hopefully they will share their opinions, there is a thread on it here - https://www.t6forum.com/threads/new-kenwood-dnx516dabs-sat-nav-any-good.1217/

You still need adaptors and can bus adaptor for the Kenwood DNX525DAB not sure about the 516. My advice would be to go to a car radio place and try for yourself, i.e. haw fast it starts up user interface etc. I wish I had before I bought the 525!

I would like to have the discovery media in bit after doing a bit of research they can not be transferable from another vehicle inless the protection pin has been removed and i hear its a dealer only an they don't usually emtertain it

Dealers cant even do it, the info has not been released to them by VW !
The only way you can do it is by installing a new unit, i have previously enquired a price from VW and its around £1250 + vat through the official channels for the supply of the headunit and i dont think thats with app connect etc but not 100% sure

Thanks for that pauly I've seen a few on fleabay an they seem convincing that they can supply an fit these unit but i will stay well away

If they offer a fitting service thats not so bad as you can see it working in situ before you pay, i think theres a place in London that list on ebay called vag something that seem legit, £800 ish supplied and fitted but again if you dont have app connect from the factory then you will prob need to change your usb outlet on dash to get this working
