New Van Day!

Yeah we had Jon cursing because he had to work with a previously fitted/converted roof and we have fake windows in the rear quarters lol, So I ripped out our old conversion and then went to knights, after spending a few years knowing what we wanted with the old conversion.

The fridge, I have to say is really good and although its only something like a 35L, it actually holds more than the typical Dometic fridge, we've also got a little alpicool coolbox fridge between the two front seats which is handy for drinks and or anything that needs to standup.

But like you, with the other van we'll have a big cool box most of the time too.

We've got the Reimo bed as at the time they hadnt started doing the Mobi frame, but the mobi frame looks excellent.
Yeah I am liking the Mobiframe so far. We’re on holiday at the moment and I pulled the seats forward and got a bike in the back on a rail mounted fork holder and all the paddle boards and other stuff and had loads of room to spare! The dog likes being closer to the front as well and our lad says it’s a lot comfier than the Rib seat we had in the old van. I also like how you can convert it to bed but have the back part tilted up so we can watch films like that on the pop top projector screen I am about to buy :)

Ha, ha, I was just watching the YouTube video of this and was saying "that's a man who knows his vans"...I'm researching the beds and it's really good to see that it works well with the furniture. I want to put a bike or two in the back sometimes, so that's also good to know.

Blimmin' lovely. I love the interior, so vibrant. I take it you would recommend Knights?

Cheers! Yeah I would. Such a lovely bunch and Jon the owner is just fanatical about quality. Always tweaking the design for better fit and finish. Been great after service as well. She’s currently back with them sorting a couple of niggles out and no drama at all. Also with some convertors struggling post t6.1 it’s nice to know they are expanding, mainly due to them also doing awesome crafter conversions.

I'm dithering about what to do next. Other half has pointed out we can't fit a Crafter on the barely there drive...otherwise I'd happily go a bit bigger. So LWB might be a compromise. Hmmm.....

Exactly the dilemma we had! LWB t6.1 is a decent compromise. With the sliding bed and the straight layout like ours it feels bigger. Only problem is the donor vans getting harder to come by apparently

There's a lwb kombi at my local dealer, it's not cheap...plus leaky windows, etc. Still...

Yep, it's the straight layout, top loading fridge, unobtrusive sink plus sliding bed that appealed. Looked very well planned. Lovely job!

Lovely van, the stuff of dreams. I myself can see a MAN TGE in my future. He says hopefully

Yep me too. But it will need to come with a new house / longer drive lol. We could just about fit a 6m on but for me it’s got to me a 6.8 as traverse bed won’t cut it. Apparently Mrs borat doesn’t want me climbing all over her at night haha

I never understood the attraction of a MAN TGE or Crafter…until getting our Labrador. Walking him past this lovely immaculate grey one on our usual route every day has made me really appreciate these vehicles. It’s now on my wish list for the future too.

Well, after a long wait, she’s finally here! Built from one of the last LWB T6.1s, which we bought prereg and intend to keep for long term. We took everything we learnt from our SWB van and put it into speccing out our dream van. Built by Knights, who I have to say were amazing and I don’t know many converters who would entertain some of the customisations that we wanted. This included the one off halo poptop with bespoke Alcantara covered design, cab cover, dual stitched Bentley inspired leather upholstery (inc on the Audi S8 electric seats) and a lot more. Fully off grid with 3kw Clayton LPS and 300w of solar and on Solow+ for the flexibility of going low-ish and auto levelling etc for campsites.

Jobs still to do - ripping out the grey cab plastic and replacing with black California and brushed chrome trim, and a mega custom audio system from dav-tec.

Wow that looks amazing. If it were ours SWMBO would have us taking our boots off & having the dogs groomed before entering (every single time) 😂😂😂
