New T6.1 Combi van 2021 owner needs advice on wheel and tyre advice

My new van has Riviera RF1 wheels with 275 / 40R20 tyres.

I’ve read lots of opinions on how to get a smoother ride as you can feel every lump and bump and very confused. I wondered if I could put 255/ 45 or even 50 R20’s on the same wheels?

I’m waiting for Riviera to respond to my email as of yet but wanted to ask the people who drive these beasts regularly!

Thanks

I’d bet that the tyres, being 274/40R20’s are a cheap hard tyre. When I first got my van in March, the conversion company had fitted (same size) mileage king tyres, ie. cheap rubbish. I decided to change them to a more upmarket tyre, that were slightly narrower. I went for Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric tyres in 245/45R20 instead.

The ride at 40psi all round was miles better. I confess, I’ve also since changed out the suspension to Bilstein B14 Komforts too, purely for a better more levelled out look. The van, full conversion, was a little lower at the back and I didn’t like it. OCD I guess.

Thank you, did you put the tyres on the same wheels?

I’m reluctant to mess with suspension until I learn more!

What pressure are you currently running? I found lowering to 40psi made a difference. Road noise etc. was only improved by changing the tyres.

As above I recently changed from a budget tyre (Devanti) to a set of Michelins os the same size. The is a big improvement in ride quality and comfort.
