Hello!

Had my 65 plate T6 20.tdi 140 for a week. Bought from VW under approved used, (chopped in an Amarok still under finance) there was an issue with the OS wing mirror, which so say is being covered by the dealer. I’ve noticed a few other bits that may or may not be a concern, before I go back (80 miles) to the dealer, perhaps anyone can help...

Side door, annoying to close, you can’t just draw it shut, it pops back open again, you have to slide it slowly and almost give it a extra push at the end to firm it in. Is that normal? Also rattles and squeaks when driving, annoying!

Second gear, from neutral, into first, smooth, down to second has an extra clunk, but never struggled to find gear up through the rest is fine, it’s just that second gear is irritating me!

So happy with everything else, can’t believe I didn’t get one before!! Unfortunately it’s a work horse so won’t be ‘pimping’ it up!!

Thanks I’m advance!

Sliding doors can be a pain, it’s normally caused by internal air pressure
Try closing side door with another door or window open, if it closes fine then you k ow that’s the problem, you should have some holes in the rear panels behind rear wheelarch to vent some of this air but if it’s been plylined or carpeted these holes get covered and exacerbate the problem

I’ve got the holes in the rear panels! I know what you mean about the pressure, some vans drop the windows slightly automatically!

I definitely think it’s a slider issue, happened again today, shut the door, checked it was, hopped, dash says dude door open! Shut it again drove off, sounds like I’ve got a couple of parrots chirping away in the back!

Could be an issue with the lock unit, the door switch signal is generated within the lock itself and then sent out of the door via the contacts against the body then signal goes onto dash
Check the contacts on the edge of the door and give them a wipe and make sure they are clean and free of any dirt or corrosion, not much more you can do beyond this without taking things apart

Yes I had thought about a squeaky seal! It’s very hard to listen and drive! I may take it for a spin with the door open and play about with it!

Does your slider have power latching? It may not be working and our cali needs a slam if the power latch is having a funny.

So... the detective that I am, I’ve been running each journey with a slightly different configuration in the back and I can conclude, that the squeaking is something to do with the single rear seat!

I pulled the seat back over and tilted it forward and hey presto, the squeaking has gone! There is still a little something from somewhere but the worst has quietened right down! When I have 5 mins I’ll figure out a way of f seeing exactly what it is, but it’s very hard to drive and be in the back at the same time!
