New member - Hi all!

Hi folks, new to the forum, but 6 months in to my 6.1 ownership. I'm now in mod-mode...

First question, I am snowboarding in a couple of weeks and need some softer tyres/winter etc. The van is on 20s at the mo and with low profile tyres so it's a tough ride. Ideally, rather than getting winter tyres for those wheels, i'd have some more forgiving tyres for camping and snow driving, and leave the others for daily driving. Basically swapping wheels and tyres, rather than just tyres.

Additional info, not a big budget at the mo.

Well you could buy a set of 18" Steel Wheels or buy 18 or 17 used alloys often on here. Also you could buy All season 3Peaks Mud and Snow Rated Tyres the most popular here is Michelin Cross Climate AS. They are All Season but is one of the best All season Tyres in the snow as good as many a pure Winter Tyre it up their. You could buy pure Winter Tyres really only suitable for colder weather they can heat up in summer and ware. Many buy All Season Tyres tyre because they are so versatile for all weather use and one tyre does everything. AS tyre is the most competitive market right now and new tyres are often being developed.

Michelin Cross climate is in its second generation so it would be Crossclimate 2 . See what the other suggest.

I swear by my Michelin CC2's, but they ain't cheap. 12 thousand miles in on a new set, 6.5mm tread depth left, well, that's what is on the MOT certificate. Certainly look good for ages yet, on 20's.

After 20 years VW T25(T3) and 15 years a T4 2.4d i convinced myself to buy a Transporter 6.1 ( with a little push of my girlfriend). I diacover right away that all those fancy electronics are the Achilles heel. Heater controller failed a few weeks ago and today i got the message that the emergency call system failed, the gps failed and directly after thst the infotainment screen turns black and doesnt go on again . Luckely i still have my vw T3 and T4
