Multivan emails

Hi
I've started receiving emails from VW,about the Multivan. Are VW scraping the Caravelle, and upgrading the Transporter to Caravelle spec.Or is the Multivan replacing the Caravelle?,or is it a completely new van.

Pretty sure the Multivan will be a Sharan/Galaxy type thing.

VW stopped taking orders for the Caravelle in August 2021, the factory as we speak are pushing through all the outstanding orders so they can begin production of the multivan.
Caravelle's are becoming very scarce if you want a new one !

It’s replacing the 6.1 caravelle and will be the passenger carrier branch, transporter 6.1s will remain for the foreseeable

I like the sound of this as 6 and 6.1 Caravelles should hold there money really well. I might just keep mine a little while longer.

Just to add , my Caravelle was due April 2022 i've been informed this week it will be coming late January .

All Caravelle's will be ahead of original delivery date's . According to my source.

The Multivan is a brand new build based on VW's MQB platform (used on Passat, Touran, etc.) so will no longer be a 'van' as such but you will still need to go to a VW van centre to buy one. Even though its underpinnings are based on a car platform it will be marginally longer and wider than the Caravelle but slightly lower. The wheelbase will also be slightly longer than the current Caravelle. I had a call from VW last week about the Multivan to see if I was interested. As a current Caravelle 6.1 owner, I am quite keen to see if the Mutlivan has resolved the many refinement issues that the Caravelle suffers from.

It would be nice to have the option of a really basic version that goes from A > B without any issues for 200K miles and for a third of the price.
Massage seats, head up display….???

Don't believe VW do those anymore:slow rofl:

Looking at is as a car and being completely separate from the commercial vans, I like it. Get the right colour, wheels and suspension and it could look really good.

£60k before any options for the 200 horsepower petrol tho,!!!

Wonder it it has a drivers footrest...
Also I don't like the fact that they've put the second and third row seatbelts on the pillars. Can't travel rear-facing in the second row anymore.

It looks a bit too ‘people carrier’ refined / Renault espace vibe for my liking. I’m sure it will be an excellent vehicle for families but it looses some of the transporter heritage by not being van based!
Be interesting to see one slammed on a set of banded steels!….
