Anybody got the foggiest about what has happened here?
2019 T6 150 DSG
37,000miles 99% motorway
Luckily still under warranty
Notable Carista fault codes before it went into limp mode & then came out of limp mode & all faults disappeared, then back into limp mode with same faults & some new ones!

Perhaps a wiring problem - near manifold pressure sensor?

As reported by the front radar, I believe it's actually
1088 - Databus - Missing Message

Well, the above doesn't really explain the teardown pictures?

Van has no mods, is exactly as it was from new
Started getting engine warning light in March..got a carista & these codes appeared & disappeared randomly
31103
P20EE
33262
P204F
06720
08216
08217
08338
08208
Low level adblue warning light & was in fact full, went away within 50miles
Finally went into limp mode with these
02256
30251
27202
P0236
P0641
00397
Start stop error & front radar warning light

SeemIngly unrelated faults so suspected mice until the engine teardown

Finally went into limp mode with these
02256
30251
27202
P0236
P0641
00397
Start stop error & front radar warning light
30251 = P0236
27202 = P0641
See my previous post. Candidates for the limp mode.

These two are not related to limp mode.
02256 - Quiescent Current - Upper Limit Exceeded
An extra consumer connected - e.g. Carista dongle
00397 = Tyre pressure warning
Obviously you've got a tyre pressure warning.
Luckily still under warranty
So what VW have said?

It’s at a VW dealership in Alentejo, Portugal, they replaced a non-functioning sensor & that immediately died so they did the teardown, now they not sure how to proceed so have asked VW HQ for advice

Reactions: mmi
looks like that engine needs a serious de-coke.

how was it driven? short miles? - motorway miles?

just goes to show how much the inlet runner can clog up with recycled EGR gasses.

looks like it needs a very good clean.

Update….
VW dealership just told me that their VW HQ in Portugal said because of the way i drove the vehicle (????) the engine repair is NOT under warranty.
Didn’t entirely understand the conversation as the previously fluent in English Portuguese VW guy, suddenly found it difficult to explain much other than “you pay you pay it’s your fault”?
I didn’t expect them to do the repair for free under warranty as i was advised by VW assist that i would have to pay when in the EU then claim back when i return to UK.
However on reflection am now thinking the “it’s your fault because of how i drove the vehicle” might be because i chose to drive the 24 miles to the garage in limp mode, instead of letting the tiny recovery truck take the van. (the lwb T6 was bigger than the truck)
So…does anybody know if i voided my warranty by driving 24 miles in limp mode?

Have you tried calling VW CV in the UK?

And ask them?

Did this ever get resolved satisfactorily? My 2019 LWB 204 DSG (10,000 Miles - mostly short journeys) has started doing odd things including 'Start Stop Error' on dash, regular glow plug light flashing after a minute or so of starting from cold (no problem starting and no light for first 60+ seconds and no loss of power). Restarting clears the flashing glow plug light and then it doesn't return whilst the engine is warm. Other posts on here suggest it could be due to gumming up/egr problems?

Gumming up egr sounds about right.
I had multiple sensor failures that resulted in the engine running very rich (I think) for a couple of thousand miles, this gummed everything up (see earlier photos) & resulted in a cascade of sensor failures
They had no idea what caused the problem but suspected some very dodgy fuel
They cleaned the heavy carbon build up & replaced all failed sensors & it seems to be fine now.
I’ll attach the repair bill, it was in Portuguese so not 100% on the translation thru the phone app.
I advise you get a proper diagnostic checkup asap on all sensors
